Sniffles, coughs, headaches, and tummy aches are all symptoms of cold and flu. Wouldn’t it be great if you had some type of magic potion readily available for when that happens? Well, here it is, my mom’s health elixir!

Lemons are high in vitamin C, needed for tissue growth and repair, important in collagen formation – important for healthy skin, blood vessels, ligaments, tendons, bones and teeth. Lemons are highly alkalinizing, antioxidant, and contain other vitamins like, folate needed for proper immune function and DNA synthesis, and minerals like potassium known to lower blood pressure, important for proper function of all organs including digestive and muscular function.

Raw honey is full of benefits, it is antibacterial thanks to the bee pollen, helps boost immune function, and works as a natural sweetener. It also contains polyphenols making it an antioxidant powerhouse.

Ginger is known for its warming properties and immune boosting abilities and has been used in Ayurvedic medicine practices for centuries. It is also used to combat morning sickness, nausea, digestive upset, gas and bloating and so much more. It also helps with insulin sensitivity and blood sugar issues, arthritis and joint pain, and may decrease lousy (LDL) cholesterol in the body.

Ingredients

  • 1 organic lemon
  • 3-4 tbsp raw honey
  • 1 thumb size piece of ginger

Directions

  1. In a jar add chopped lemon with the peel.
  2. Add chopped ginger and honey.
  3. Mix well, cover and keep in the fridge.

Have one to two tablespoons every day for maintenance of good health; increase to 4-5 times per day when you feel symptoms.
